Grace Cain named New Mexico Farm & Livestock Bureau Distinguished Service to Agriculture Recipient

Grace Cain, long-time T or C science teacher, was honored with the Distinguished Service to Agriculture Award by the state's largest agriculture organization at the 98th annual meeting of the New Mexico Farm and Livestock Bureau.

Grace’s interest in Ag in the Classroom began when she attended an American Farm Bureau meeting that featured teachers incorporating agriculture into their curriculum.  As a fifth- grade science teacher in T or C, Grace already knew the importance of connecting real life to lesson plans.  With ag in the classroom she found a way to connect students with the world around them.  As volunteer coordinator for Ag in the Classroom, Grace organized farm, ranch and ag days, gave tours at the State Fair, and coordinated summer workshops for teachers.

“We are honored to recognize Grace for her amazing work with Ag in the Classroom,” said Chad Smith, CEO of New Mexico Farm & Livestock Bureau. “The program’s current success is a reflection of her dedication and this award honors her legacy.”
