Congratulations to Don Hartman, NMF&LB State Board member and former Luna County FLB President, for being recognized as the 2020 winner of the New Mexico Association of Conservation Districts Outstanding Land Stewardship Award. Don and Cheryl have been farming in the Deming area for over thirty years. According to the NMACD commendation, "Don continually strives to improve his farm by utilizing the most innovative  conservation practices that are both efficient and cost effective. Sub-surface drip irrigation was installed on the Hartman Farm with the  help of NRCS. This practice has increased crop quality and higher yields  while providing an economic benefit. It also helped make fertilizing more effective  efficient, decreases the amount of fertilizer needed and prevents drift." Congratulations to the Hartmans!
