NMFLB was pleased to host this year’s Western Region Presidents and Administrators Conference. The Presidents, Administrators and spouses from New Mexico to Washington and Montana to Hawaii gathered in Santa Fe July 28th-31st. From a chuck wagon dinner to a meeting in the Round House, issues were discussed facing the western states that ranged from mandatory labeling of GMO crops to labor reform to litigation reports.
One of the highlights of the gathering was a meeting with Governor Susana Martinez in the cabinet room at the Capitol. Joining the meeting were three cabinet secretaries, Jim Lane, Director of New Mexico Game & Fish, Scott Verhines, State Engineer and Anthony Parra, Assistant Secretary of Agriculture. Governor Martinez and husband Chuck Franco also joined the group for dinner that evening. Next year’s conference will be held in Portland, Oregon.
